Jonathan is a native New Yorker who is mainly self-taught. His interest in the nude began early in his 25 year career during the requiste art school courses. It blossomed when a chance meeting with a tattooed woman introduced Jonathan to the heady world of fetish. Much of his early work documents this period in his life. He still has a "thing" for tattooed and pierced women.
His public nude phase took hold in 1999 with the realization of the project "Fifteen Women." Many of his subjects were women he met on the street. His goal in this series of studio, home and outdoor nudes was to reveal the very essence of his subjects forcing them to drop all pretense. Isn't that always the case. Later came the very sucessful "Rooftop Nudes" where over 20 disparate women disrobed for him on the roof of a commercial building on West 26th Street. Next up was the industrial series "Railroad Nudes." Jonathan is seeking gallery representation and a publisher. He welcomes inquiries from gallery owners, museum curators, book publishers, magazine editors as well as art collectors, models and photographers.
Jonathan is currently shooting scads of nude woman at home or in hotel rooms when he travels. Fresh faces are welcome. If you are an uninhibited woman who would like to be immortalized on film by Jonathan Mitchell please email recent photgraph (not necessarily nude) and a short paragraph about why you want to be photographed nude.
